I have tried re installing everything except for Visual studio, although that should not matter in a blank project.

Hello again Greg,

Can you please make this crash occur again? We have made some changes to our crash reporter and we would like to get the callstack for this directly into our database. While crashing, please make sure to be connected to the internet and without a firewall to ensure that the report is delivered.

Let me know as soon as you have done this.

Thanks!

I ran the editor again, but this time with 2 monitors connected to the laptop and it opened and ran fine. When I tried to move the application from one screen to another, I got the attached error

Then I ran again on my laptop without the dual screens and got the old immediate crash.

For confirmation, can you tell me the name of the project you were loading when you crashed?

Yes I opened MyProject and FreshShooter as well I believe

Thanks for confirming, and for the updated information. I may ask you to crash for us again at another time later on.

Hello Greg,

I have installed and loaded your version of Rocket without issue, so we can rule out a problem with your build. Although there is always a possibility that the install file became corrupt during your download, so perhaps try re-downloading it and re-installing before any further steps. Also, make certain that all .INI files in any config folders are removed between installations.

After that, if the crash is still occurring, try installing Rocket on any other computer system you have available to you (if possible). Then, let us know more about your system that it is crashing on (Processor, DirectX version, AntiVirus, etc. (or just provide your DXdiag).

Also, two questions:

  • In the brief moments before you crash, do you enable any Source Control settings?
  • Have you attempted to open any projects other than a Blank one (such as the provided ShooterGame)? If so, do you experience the same crash?

Thanks for your assistance.

I have the build running successfully on another machine which has a more standard graphics card. I believe the issue may lie with my Nvidia NVS 4200m chip, although it does meet the minimum 1GB of ram required in the specs. I always close the source control dialog when prompted, and on one or two occassions I have managed to run the editor for a few minutes, but only if I immediately set the scene to unlit.
Under these conditions I can navigate the editor, but text in most cases disappears or is scrambled throughout.

I have attempted other projects as well, both ones that I created such as the blank project and the third person template, and prebuilt projects like ShooterGame, all of which crash as well. After a fresh install, it will not crash until it attempts to compile shaders and fails. The c++ code compiles without issue though, and i can build the projects inside Visual Studio as well.

Thanks for the update, I am glad that you can get the build to work on another system. We will attempt to test with a system comparable to your Notebook to see if we can reproduce and investigate the issue.
