Normal maps lose their effictiveness in the distance

so i’m trying to use a normal map instead of 3d model ordnaments on a doorway, it looks good. but only when player is 10-20 cm away from it, if you get further away than that it slowly dissapears completely. how can i fix this. it feels like it’s some sort of automatic LOD situation here which is understandable, however i’d like it to take effect from a bit further back.
