Static Mesh's edges where it interects flicker/sort issues when zooming out.

I have a static rock thats made up of rock meshes attached together. Its not the cleanest opposed to just having a shell. The rocks look fine in the play area but i placed some in the vista scaled to 200-300 percent. When I move back and forth the edges where I combined the rocks start to zfight. When I zoom in it gets better. Any idea whats going on?

Thanks,
.

Hi! thanks for replying. I also thought it could be LOD’s but I forced Lod 0 and it still does it.

What video file types can I upload on here?

hi  it might be because your rocks geometry isn’t clean… Lod 0 might look ok but when Lod 1 pops in the z fighting becomes noticeable. Ue4 may be automatically generating the Lods and if the original geometry has overlapping faces then the auto generated geometry may also…

Your issue is puzzling … I honestly don’t know… I just upload looks to my YouTube though I think I’ve seen dynamic gifs

if it’s staying in LOD 0 and the materials are normal (maybe just throw on a default material to test) sorry but I haven’t seen anything quite like it. It doesn’t look like z fighting… more like some unexpected vertex displacement

Weird…does it do the same thing on the static mesh editor when you zoom in and out? On an off chance, it might be your camera or post processing effects

Here’s a video: IMG 4649 - YouTube

Thanks. Ive tried basic materials… the video is with no textures/material. its definitely a mesh thing. :frowning:
