Does UE4 support .Bik files?

Hi, Does UE4 support .Bik files?
If not what do I use to apply an animated sequence as a texture?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.
Currently when I try to import my bink file into UE4 I can’t see the file through my import browser and there is no file type for .bik.
Is this something that has not been implemented yet or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Hello,

I have done some more research into this issue. It would appear that I was confused because the documentation exists but is out of date.

No, unfortunately Rocket does not currently support .bik files. However, there are plans to implement features in future builds that will allow you to utilize moving images. If there are any particular requests with this feature that you would like to make, please let me know and I will be happy to create a feature request for the programmers.

Thank you,

Hello,

Since this issue was answered, the engine has undergone changes and we no longer support .bik files. We do have a solution planned for the future.

Thank you for your understanding,

Having the same issue. I can’t seem to be able to import any Bink files.

Video textures are a pretty important feature for me too.

can you tell us what the plan is to implement video textures in the future?

Hello,

We do have plans for an in-house solution for this, but it will be down the road a bit before we can release any more details on that. Depending on what you wish to accomplish, we have some alternative solutions. If there is something that does not seem to have an obvious solution, I would suggest creating a new question in the Unreal Editor section describing what you want to make.

Cheers!

Thanks for your response .

My use in the past has just been leveraging .bik files to bring in video footage of people and matching the motion of that footage to scenes built in the Unreal Engine. At the end if the day I’m just looking to be able to bring video into UE4 at the very least in a similar way to the old engine.
