Particles Lit Translucency - Self Shadowing

Hey
In documentation:

https://rocket.unrealengine.com/docs/ue4/INT/Engine/Subsystems/Rendering/LightingAndShadows/LitTranslucency/index.html

There are on bottom nice lit self-shadowing particles.

But when I try to get something at least similiar all I got is:

Translucency Lighting Mod is set to TLM_PerPixel.

I’ve been using P_steamRising, with boosted alpha and particle spawn rate, also I set Translucency Shadow Density Scale to 10.

Is there any specific way I should setup my particles, or is it just bug ?

Hi Lukasz,

Thank you for your report. I have investigated the issue and it turns out there is a known problem with particles shadows. Currently, translucent particles cannot cast shadows. It is being worked on by our rendering programmers and should be fixed in a future build. I apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused you. If there is anything else that is behaving unexpectedly, please let us know.

Thank you,

Alexander

Hi Alexander,
Thanks for reporting on this issue. Is there any way of estimating when this feature will be released? My team is working with effects that rely on this functionality.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Unfortunately, at this time I am unable to give an estimated time of completion. It is a feature that will have to be tested out in our main branch before being added into Rocket. Once completed and tested, it will be implemented in a future build of Rocket.
