Epic Launcher freezes (Mac)

I received an update to the Epic Game Launcher a day or so ago. Ever since then, the launcher freezes hard and has to be force-stopped. This doesn’t appear to be happening in Windows, but it is happening on two separate Macs.

I’ve tried uninstalling, a deep uninstall where I’ve cleared out ~/Library, and reinstalling from a fresh download.

I’m having the same issue.

Hi All,

We are investigating this issue. Could you please provide us with your EpicGamesLauncher.log files.
On mac they are found here:

\Users\YOUR USER NAME\Library\Logs\

Her’s mine

Mine has the same SEGV fault.

I have the same SEGV fault.

I’m having the same problem. If I turn off wifi or choose to skip login I can access the offline/“not signed in” launcher as normal. But when I try to login, it freezes with logs identical to those posted below. My installation is completely new no previous versions.

Any fix to this yet?

Unfortunately, that won’t work for me. Yeah, I can get the launcher running, but I can’t access my purchased assets & plugins for Unreal Engine.

We’re all getting the same error:
[2020.03.25-05.16.17:408][151][SignInRouter] GoToUrl(’/null’)

Is there a resolution/fix to this issue yet? As far as I can tell, nobody on OSX can use the Launcher or their Vault assets since this disaster/upgrade. Please advise!

UPDATE: With the release of version 10.15.2 on 3/26/2020, this issue impacting some users on MacOS is addressed and if you are on this version or later there is no need for the following workaround.

Thank you all for providing logs and for your continued patience. We are actively looking into this issue and do have a fix that will likely be released tomorrow. In the mean time, there may be a workaround you can use but will likely mean you’ll have to uninstall, get the latest dmg installer from the website, and pass the following commandline in when launching the new install: -ForceMacOldHttpImpl Please let me know if this works for anyone while we try to get out the fix.

The full step by step and command would look something like this:

  1. Uninstall Epic Games launcher client

  2. Download new installer from https://www.epicgames.com/

  3. Once installed, open a command prompt and run with the following command

    open /Applications/Epic\ Games\ Launcher.app --args -ForceMacOldHttpImpl

I downloaded the new installer and ran the app with the command line argument and it worked. I did a dirty uninstall, just deleted the app, didn’t poke around and clean the library folders.

I didn’t need to uninstall. Running the launcher I have with the arguments listed above worked. Hopefully, I’ll receive the automated update soon.

Today i download EpicInstaller-10.15.2
now Launcher work!

Quick update. With today’s release of v10.15.2, this issue will be addressed. No need for any workarounds if you are on this version or later.

Thank you very, very much! I was dead in the water.
