[Request] Source Control Icons in the Content Browser Asset Tree

In the Content Browser there are icons for ***** unsaved, ? not in source control, + new, etc., but there are no icons on the Asset Tree. I know that uassets are not listed in the Tree, but it would be helpful to have a visual indication that there are changes within a folder or it’s subfolders, similar to how Tortoise SVN indicates folders with changes, but more informative. Since a folders may include multiple flags they would have to chain together. Perhaps one of a few Source Control icons / color codes on the folder itself, and a series of chained letter codes justified right of the folder name?

I’m trying to think of all states that would need to be visually indicated:

  • unsaved
  • up to date
  • not up to date
  • not in source control
  • marked for add
  • marked for delete
  • checked out by me
  • checkout by another user
  • local changes conflicted with another user’s checkin (source control error catch)

Why? From my time in UE3 I’ve relied on these tree level icons to not only inform me what I need to save or where I need to perform source control actions, but also help me quickly navigate to the folders I’m actively working in.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your request. I have created a report for source control icons being displayed on the asset tree folders with a reference to this thread. If there is anything else that would make the editor easier to use, please let us know.

Thanks,

Alexander
