How can I select an entire brush?

I was working in unreal 4, creating a bunch of brushes and the editor crashed. When I reopened it my side, front, and top viewports no longer displayed any of my brushes except the pre-existing starter content floor. In perspective mode if I select place mode and try to select my brushes, it only selects their faces and not the whole brush. Please help.

Hey -

Which version of the engine are you using? What kind of brushes were you working with and how many were you creating when you crash?

Hey ,

I’m using 4.2.1 and I was working with box and sphere brushes. I didn’t have many when I crashed. Only about 4 box brushes and 2 sphere brushes.

I’m currently unable to reproduce your crash. Does the issue occur in a new project when working with brushes?

Hey -

When you select your brush and it only selects the face, is the selection outline blue or orange?

Hi ,

We have not heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing the issue you reported, please respond to this message with additional information and we will offer further assistance.

Thank you

Hey -

What steps do you take when creating a new project that causes the crash? Also, are you only able to select a single face before the crash or does it only happen after the crash has occurred? Lastly which project template are you working with (first person, third person, etc.)?

Hey ,
Yes the crash can happen on a new project and the face selection is orange.

  1. Open the dashboard
  2. Launch
  3. New Project
  4. Blueprint ThirdPerson

I can select multiple faces for a little while before the crash occurs.

Does the crash happen after simply placing the BSP into the level or do you change any of their settings first? Are you adding additive or subtractive brushes?

I was using both additive and subtractive brushes and yes I would most likely tweak their settings after placing them. Adding more sides to a cylinder for example, or manually moving the verts on a cube brush to adjust the size.

Hey -

So to make sure I understand what steps you’re taking to induce the crash, you open a new project from the Launcher and then use the Modes window to pull in different bsp? Is there anything that I’m missing that happens before the crash?

Also, if you could post your log files it will help us determine what is causing the crash. The logs we need are in the Saved folder inside your project folder. If there are multiple files in the Logs folder, the set created immediately following the crash would be the most useful.
