Upgrading to Unreal 4.25.1 crashes the engine whenever trying to use file explorer to choose location

This is the crash that occurs when I upgraded my engine version from 4.25 to 4.25.1. It doesn’t even allow me to create a new project as I try to choose location using file explorer it crashes the engine

Same here. I can’t migrate, select landscape heightmap, reimport anything with a new file.

I’ve tried verifying, brand new project, removing network drives, disabling source control plugins, removing quick access folders.

Same here. Tried everything. Crashes on every explorer dialog window. 4.25 and earlier works fine.

I was looking into some solutions. I think it must be because of Windows 10 KERNELBASE.dll corruption. I am wondering if Epic changed something in their engine core that might have made it corrupt. This is the article I found related to that: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/applications-fail-to-start-with-kernelbasedll/44a4c2ad-a43f-479b-b026-bcdc2ff01285

True. I tried 4.24 again to confirm it and it works fine. Even 4.25 worked fine as I was working on a project midway using 4.25. It started crashing as soon as I updated to 4.25.1

Do any of those solutions fix the problem? Is this not happening to everyone? What could be the reason it happens to some and not others?

Same. Started crashing as soon as i upgraded from 4.25 to 4.25.1

I have reported this bug to Epic: Unreal Engine Community. Still haven’t heard anything back from Epic. I would like you to do the same and report this bug,so that they can fix it as soon as possible. I don’t want to change KERNELBASE.dll unnecessarily if it is something Epic could change soon. I would wait till they reply back. I am hoping someone would reply back by Monday

Could you report this bug here: Unreal Engine Community. It would be better if more people report it so that they can fix it asap

I did that too, no response yet either.

Yes i just reported it. Created my project in 4.25 and cant work on it right now, since i cannot downgrade. Pretty annoying.

I have 4.25.1 running on 2 windows computers. One is having no problems, the other one is crashing.
The crashing one has a AMD Ryzen, the not crashing one Intel I7 ?

I’m running a Ryzen 3600x. I have another computer that I can try it on to test this theory out, it’s an intel.

EDIT: It works fine on 2 other computers here 3900x and an Intel CPU.

I got contacted by someone from Epic today. They told me install debugging symbols for engine so that they can get call stack for the crash. I have sent them today. So will wait and see whether they’ll fix it

How many of you have Helix Plugin for File Explorer installed? I have uninstalled it from both computers I use that have this issue and Unreal has stopped crashing on both immediately after uninstall.

If you don’t have that installed I would try uninstalling any other type of File Explorer related “plugins”.

NOTE: Helix also known as Perforce if you didn’t know.

Worked for me. Crashing stopped immediately after uninstalling the plug-in. Thank you.

I don’t have that plugin installed. But still it crashes the engine

Do you have anything else installed that affects File Explorer? I would try removing anything like that.

I have the same problem. I already reported but without a solution. The strange thing is that it also happens to me with version 4.24.3.
In 4.24.3 I can import assets via DATASMITH but as soon as I carry out a moficiación and want to re-import, it closes.
In 4.25.1 I can’t directly import anything. It even closes without doing anything

4.25.1 is crashing on a I7 here (whenever the Editor opens a file-explorer window)
