Unreal Engine 4.25 and 4.25.1 Crash

Hello,

I’m on a i7-8750H GTX 1070 16GB Ram Win10 64bit. It keeps crashing with the error:

Assertion failed: Status < (sizeof(*RtlpNumberOf(AftermathReason))) [File:D:/Build/++UE4+Licensee/Sync/Engine/Source/Runtime/Windows/D3D11RHI/Private/D3D11RHI.cpp] [Line: 667]

I’ve tried multiple fix’s. I’ve added it to my NVIDIA apps running on the GTX 1070. I verified the files multiple times. I even tried the TdrLevel fix. It works most the time but just freezes for a min then loads or it crashes.

Any ideas on how to get it to not crash?

I have the same issue. Same thing repeats with 4.24 and 4.23 as well but was a different cpp files. For example 4.23 has reported errors in file D3D11UTIL.cpp.
I also have the same exact configuration for my laptop. I have been using UE4 for about a year now on this laptop and this issue with crashing started to happen about 4-5 weeks ago.

I read in a nother post about rolling back windows 10 2004 update. OP said it work fine after. Haven’t been able to try it, going to try it this weekend

It stills crashes after I rolled my windows 10 back

I have received a mail from Unreal Engine team regarding this issue. It has something to do with Nvidia graphics drivers. So, they mentioned that they are waiting for Nvidia to respond to this issue. Maybe we will get a fix in 4.26 (based on the details I have found from the ticket raised.) Here is the link you can track. UE-92814

FINALLY, I fixed it.!!

I have switched my graphics driver from "Game Ready to “Studio” in the Geforce Experience.Hope it works for you too.
I will check for some more time and keep this post updated.Screenshot

You’re a legend, thank you!!!

I have installed a different driver but I am getting this error

UPDATE

Loading “studio driver” for Nvidia fixed my problem and after few updates of the driver I was able to run unreal engine with no issues on “Game Ready driver” with both 4.25 and 4.26 versions. I suggest update your graphics drivers and try using 4.25/4.26.

you can track the issue with this link. https://issues.unrealengine.com/issue/UE-92814

Hope this helps.

If you have a laptop, first of all, check which graphics core the editor works with. Integrated or discrete, if integrated, change it to discrete, and update the drivers to the Studio. The cause of this error is a malfunction of the video card or its excessive overheating.
