Restarting download

Hi,

When trying to install Unreal Engine 4.4.2 in the launcher, the download keeps restarting. It seems some files fails to validate. Would appreciate any help.

I also have a lot of logs, that I hope someone can make some sense of.
Also, it works on my other computer. No problems at all.

Running Windows 7 Professional on this computer, Windows 8.1 Pro on the other one. Could that be the issue?

EDIT: I also tried disabling my antivirus, didn’t matter.

Hi Maistho,

Sorry to hear you are having this problem, hopefully we can help figure it out with you. Win 7 Pro itself is not the problem, but we will try to figure out what is. Thanks for providing the logs, but there is actually a special setting we need to get the very most out of them.

Please go to this link and follow the steps in the “Getting Verbose Logs” section.

Once you have the “veryverbose” log, please attach it here again, and we will take a look.

Thanks!

My log file got too big, cannot attach it here. I’ll upload it to drive instead and post a link.

Hi Maistho,

From the logs it looks like as you say, some files are failing, the latest log was down to 2 files. I’m not sure why this would be, it seems like the files successfully construct but when verifying them at the end they were corrupt.

I have two suggestions… You could either, try a few more times, as it seems like each time it gets a bit further on…
Or if you have access to the other machine where it works fine, you could copy the installed files from that one onto your machine that is having problems and then make sure that the “$movedMarker” file exists in the 4.4 install folder <\br> C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\4.4\$movedMarker <\br>and then the next time you try it should pick those up…

Let me know how you get on, and we’ll continue to work through it if you still have issues,<\br>Leigh

I tried copying the install from my other machine, added the $movedMarker file, and tried installing. Unfortunately, it still wants to download more files. I can however run the engine directly by opening the executable, but the launcher still complains about corrupt files. If you want the log files for this I can do it again and post the logs.

Logs would be good. It sounds like there may be a corruption on read somehow for you when the files are read back to check integrity. Very odd. If the engine on both machines are installed to the same place, you could also copy over the manifest file, which may get the Launcher to simply pick it up as installed. They are located at <\br>
C:\ProgramData\Epic\UnrealEngineLauncher\Data\Manifests

I sort of understand why it’s not working, there seems like there’s an issue with the harddrive. I tried installing to another harddrive on the same computer and had no problems.
Thanks for the help!
