Landscape changes after each save?

Hey there,

Hopefully I have posted this in the correct section, if not then sorry :frowning:

I am having an issue with the UE4 editor, whenever I save or an auto update occurs the Landscape goes smooth all over, it’s hard to explain but it sort of looses all its roughness?

Here is a screenshot of what the Landscape looks like normally: Screenshot - fffd58b17ccc1b5450e849c19155acbe - Gyazo

Here is a screenshot of what the Landscape looks like after a save / auto-save: Screenshot - 87ad2c7cec6c10293e56e8face87f7ba - Gyazo

The way I fix the problem after every save is too sculpt the landscape with one click and it all ‘pops’ back together and regains its edges and roughness etc…

I’m not sure weather or not this is supposed to happen, any information would be great!

It works fine when I press play in the editor, however when I was working with the new menus through UMG, when I clicked Play and it took me to x level it would stay on saved landscape

It looks like the LOD taking over for a moment after saving. Does it get fixed if you play in editor after saving?

Hi ,

Does this occur on a blank project with no additional content? Additionally, does anything change when you move the camera closer/further away from the landscape? What version of the editor are you on currently?

Thanks for the reply,

Yes this does happen on a blank project and nothing changes when moving the camera closer/further away from the scree.

The only reason I can think of that this is happening is because i’m using the lowest quality settings on the engine?

Hi ,

I was able to reproduce this on my end and have entered in a bug report, TTP#346562 to be assessed. Thank you and have a great day!

Hi ,

It is definitely the scalability settings. We tested on our latest internal build and found that the LOD pop that you see only occurs when on the low quality settings.

Ok thanks for the information and glad too see your helping everyone as much as possible, thanks again!

I have to open this back up because I am using scalability options for my menu’s “Low” and “High” quality settings.

When a player is on “Low” the terrain is completely messed up, and it looks terrible. Is there a way to just edit the details of the terrain to change the LOD settings on a per quality basis?

here’s the problem I had, when I was linked to this page -

I didn’t know if it would only be that way when I was in editor, but it’s doing it when I am in game as well.

Are you using console commands to set the quality? If so which commands are they?

any progress on getting this fixed?

Hi TSpartanT,

This is still currently being assessed. I do not have a timeframe of when a fix will be made available.

Hi there, guys. Disable “nanite” from landscape and should to the trick. Worked for me ! Cheers and have fun !
