Black screen upon VR Editor load - unusable.

Hi there. I am attempting to use the VR editor in my Unreal Engine project but each time I launch I am sent to a black screen inside the headset. It appears to be an overlay, as opposed to no data streaming through, as each time I turn my head tiny, pixel-wide slits of my project are invisible. It is like I have a black square attached to my face.

Googling has yielded others with similar issues, but no solutions or even really answers. I don’t know where to even begin looking to solve this issue myself, or what a potential cause could be. I am hoping this can be solved quickly as I really need this feature for a project/demo I am doing.

I am running an i7 7700HQ, GTX 1060, and 32GB’s GDDR4 RAM. My HMD is an HTC Vive, along with the original Vive Base Stations and Vive Wands. I am running on OS version Windows 10 2004.

hi!!
You need to (save) close your project, delete the ‘Saved’ folder and reload the project, the VR Editor should run from then on.,./ (Loading the VR Editor once in a project it seems to put something in the saved folder that makes it happy from then on,…)

thank you for the answer, this worked for me in 4.23

I am having the same issue with all versions of unreal engine at the moment. The main version of Unreal Engine I am using is Unreal Engine 5 and the solution you proposed is not working.
