World composition - level LODs missing foliage

Hi.
I’m building a large world with World Composition. I populated my world with trees and other types of foliage.
I then tried creating LODs for the tiles. I opened the “Level details” window, and set Num LOD to 1 just to test it.
I set it to some distance, and hit generate.

The LODs were created as expected. When I move away from a tile, it’s then replaced with a reduced LOD tile. Works as expected.

Problem is: foliage refuses to be built on these tiles. I have a bunch of trees in my map, and so as the tile changes into a lower LOD, then landscape appears empty with no foilage.

I tried googling it, and the only answer I found was to use Simplygon.

Isn’t simplygon deprecated? There’s certainly no version for my engine. Do I really need simplygon for that? If so, that means that I have to go to an older engine version (currently the siimplygon ue4 plugin installer only goes up to 23)? Isn’t there a built in replacement? Perhaps something experimental?

Long story short: if you want to build a tiled world with LODs and foliage, how do you go about it nowadays?

Help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
