Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Are All marketplace contents can be used in commercial projects ?

The above statement states though i think , but i want to make sure before buying , that i can use any content in marketplace(weather free of commercial) to be used in a commercial project.

WHAT CAN USERS DO WITH MY CONTENT ONCE THEY PURCHASE AND DOWNLOAD IT? All content sold on the Marketplace is licensed to the buyer (who may be either an individual or company) for the lifetime right to use the content in developing an unlimited number of products and in shipping those products. The buyer is also licensed to make the content available to employees and contractors for the sole purpose of contributing to products controlled by the buyer.

Each such product built using content purchased on the Marketplace must be a standalone creative work (such a game, simulation, or video) in which content is merely a component and not the primary focus. For example, it may not be a content pack for distribution to engine users.

Hey TheTrice,

To answer you question simply: Yes, you may use any purchased content in a game or product that you sell.

Anyone who is interested in seeing a more detailed explanation can check out the link here: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/marketplace-business-terms-faq

Here's an excerpt:

What can users do with my content once they purchase and download it?

All content sold on the Marketplace is licensed to the buyer (who may be either an individual or company) for the lifetime right to use the content in developing an unlimited number of products and in shipping those products. The buyer is also licensed to make the content available to employees and contractors for the sole purpose of contributing to products controlled by the buyer.

Can users modify, resell or transfer content once they purchase it?

Users are free to modify any content they purchase from the Marketplace.

All items sold are non-transferable, and users cannot sub-license the content for further redistribution, whether or not they have modified it. Users cannot buy your content and then distribute it to other developers to use in other projects, for example by listing it on the Marketplace or another store themselves.

Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to further assist you.

Hey Alexander , Does this apply for free content by EPIC and also by other companies such as Mixamo characters ?

Thanks!!

He hasn't responded yet, but I'm going to assume that it's a yes.

The reason I'm assuming this, is because the "What can users do with my content when they purchase and download it" phrase.

When you download something, the content is then stored to your account. Meaning you have "downloaded and purchased" in a sense.

I guarantee Epic will let you use their products for your project, because it's part of the engine, and also they collect a royalty fee anyways.

By placing items on the marketplace for free, the company or individual must assume that they are not going to collect royalties for anything, nor be paid at all unless Epic is paying them on a contracted basis. This would be an extreme hassle to deal with, and I highly doubt any company wants to try to manage royalties, as they are a time consuming process.

You can use any and all items on the Marketplace for whatever projects without any repercussions. Whether they are free or cost money.

Sorry about that, I thought I had responded to this post. Yes anything you buy is yours to use in a game. All of the content on the marketplace is covered for use in a published game in the EULA.

We even have people that just rename Tappy Chicken or one of the demos and then submit it to app stores all the time. As long as the royalties are paid, it's ok to do that.

Please let me know if there is anything I can help clarify

Hi,

I had purchased some characters and prop models -and used Epic free content- to make a video for advertising a product from a well-known soft drink brand.

Is royalty-free / commercial use allowed for Non-interactive linear media brand product advertising distributed as video ?

Thx in advance.

So you just want to know if the things you can buy on the marketplace are for commercial use?

I would say yes. You buy them, so you can use them for your project. And if i understand it right, you can use them as often as you want for as many project as you want. And you are allowed to share them with your coworkers. Although i don't really get how they want to check if these models are shared withing the community or just inside a project team.
