[Suggestion] Graphics switch on Move (unlit mode)

I had an idea for those who are using lower spec machines. The switch between low-high graphics is a relatively fast one, so I was thinking that to make it easier on those moving around the viewport, particularly artists who need to see their scene at full quality. Perhaps a setting that allows when users are dragging around the viewport to move their camera that UE4 would switch to low quality, and then back to high when released.

Alternatively, could we see the ‘Unlit on Movement’ mode from UE3 come back? This mode had made navigation a breeze.

I only say it because I’m using a 660M 2GB GDDR5, and while I’m getting 45fps (decent) a full 60 FPS during movement would be really nice when moving.

Could this work?
Thanks in advance,

Scott Baker.

This is a great suggestion Sythen, I would love to see this as well, even with the option to change to wireframe while navigating, similar to what Maya has, in maya is called fast interaction if you want to check it out.

It appears down the line this feature never came to pass :frowning:

BUMP FOR FUTURE.

This feature was an excellent feature, allowing you to move around a scene/level/map in unlit mode, yet, you stop somewhere and the engine lights it up.

It is faster and way more fluid.
