Epic Games Launcher crashing when opening the unreal engine tab

The launcher loads up fine and I’m able to log in. However, each time I click on the unreal engine tab, it windows informs me that it has stopped working and closes it again. Ive look through the troubleshooter and all the question mentioning this issue but all of the solutions haven’t worked. Ive uninstalled ad/malware protection software, checked my computer specs and nothing has work.

Attached is my computer specs in case i missed something and I unable to get the logs due to this issue. Ive changed the target line but the issue prevents me from getting them.

Hi Falcon612,

Try the workaround that Steve.White posted here.

Let us know if it works for you or not.

Ive uninstalled the web companion and it still doesn’t work. Its only crashing on the UE tab.

Okay. Lets find out if it’s the Launcher or the Editor. Go to this location and open the UE4Editor.exe

C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\4.8\Engine\Binaries\Win64

Your file path may differ a bit.

Let me know if that opens for you or not.

I havent got that file on my system

Sorry about that, I misunderstood your original description. So the Launcher just crashes when the Unreal Engine tab is selected.

You can select the Unreal Tournament and Fortnite tabs fine?

Yes, I can select those two with no problem

I don’t see where you mentioned trying this, but uninstall the Launcher completely and reinstall it. Let me know how that goes.

Tried that several times with the same result. Keeps crashing when the unreal engine tab is selected.

I’ve resolved the issue by reinstalling my OS. I can now click on the unreal engine tab without the crash occuring. I still don’t why the crash was happening in the first place.

If reinstalling the OS fixed the issue, there was definitely some sort of system conflict but I’m unsure what that could have been. I’m glad that you got it working though.

How do you reinstall your OS? I have the same problem, but I don’t know how to reinstall the OS… :frowning:
