Crashing and freezing after 4.1 patch

The reason I’m asking is that in the past 2hrs of using version 4.1 I’ve already had 3 crashes which have required me to use task manager to end task.
With the previous version (4.0.2) I don’t recall having this issue on any occasion, yet I used it throughout it’s whole ‘life cycle’.

The crashes seem to be primarily when performing some kind of shader building. The first time I don’t specifically remember what I was doing, I think it had something to do with using the Foliage Paint Tool, but the other 2 times it’s crashed has been when updating a material and the first time I clicked on ‘Apply’ whilst the second time I clicked on ‘Save’ and both times it crashed.

Has anybody else had a similar issue or just found version 4.1 to be a little unstable?

OK, so I’ve tried re-doing the same thing to see if it happens a 3rd time in a row.

It still went into an unresponsive state and my task manager said it was not responding but this time I just left the PC and went to make a coffee, when I came back it was working. So I guess it’s not completely broken, but it seems that it goes completely unresponsive while the shaders continue to compile.

This is pretty frustrating as with bigger scenes and bigger shaders it means longer waiting times, especially frustrating if just making small tweaks. Hopefully this is just a freak incident with this particular material, guess I’ll soon find out when I need to change other materials
