UE4 automatically corrupting my project everytime I press save

I have worked a very very long time on this project but this bug keeps on repeating itself and is getting worse and worse. Everytime I reopen my project (version 3.0), it says, “Failed to open map file. This is most likely because the map was saved with a newer version of the engine”. It comes to the point that I havee to load a recent backup that is not properly how it was when I last saved it. If anyone knows a 100% working solution, I will love you for eternity. Please let me know exactly what version of the engine you are using and what version of the engine the project was created in.
